Two weeks gone by and I'm finally picking it up together to write about Cheongdamdong Alice mainly because it was a rough start for them but what to come was simply staggering. I had to stop and think because I didn't know where this was going. I almost gave up after episode 1 but episode 2 completely changed my mind. It felt like the writers were drunk when they wrote episode 1. Things were all over the place, the plot was vague and nothing was right. But I guess, they've got their haejangguk cause episode 2 finally makes sense. In Episode 2, Han Se Kyung (Moon Geun Young) finally met her ultimate high school competitor, Seo Yoon Joo who has been behind the scene playing wicked and the story about Han Se Kyung turning into Cheomdangdong Alice begun.
Han Se Kyung is easy to relate. An inspiring fashion designer who works her fingers to the bone as she believes every drop of success comes from her own effort but after years unable to bear any fruit out of her effort, even somebody as kind-hearted as Han Se Kyung would want to give up. The very moment she's giving it up, some man (Jean Thierry Sha/Park Shi Hoo in this case) discover the inner her and fell in love with her own self. A little too late it was as she decided to step out from her older self and seek help from the current Cheomdangdong Alice, Seo Yoo Joo to strive for luxe. Although Han Se Kyung is relatable, my favorite character has to be Seo Yoon Joo. I think her character is as important as Han Se Kyung as she's driving just about every other character to their place. I have a chunk of respect saved for her even if things turn ugly later in time. She's truly gone all out to be at her place right now and I find no reason to hate her just yet. She's very helpful and she has a very attractive little brother over there. Fret not, this drama will only be 16 Episodes, shorter than the normal weekend drama but it's better than none right? So far, I'm absolutely impressed with the intricate storylines. Every character is worthy for what it's made for and Jean Thierry Shaaa is effortlessly hilarious. Jean Thierry Shaaa's character is defying gravity but he's making me laugh..A LOT so I don't really mind. Park Shi Hoo is a good eye-candy anyway for an ahjussi like him. If you're up for a good laugh while not minding of the unexpected punches in between than this drama is definitely made for you.
What completely took my breath away was unequivocally this line,
"I thought the opposite word of I love you is I don't love you. But then I realized it's supposed to be I can't do anything for you"
Now haven't I convince you enough to get on track with this already?
