Yoseob releases Caffeine MV
I think this song sounds better when I watched the MV to go along with it. This is an exemplary case of when you say "Turn on the lights, I can't hear you." It sounds crazy, but somehow we are codependent on our other senses to enhance your one particular sense. Does this even make sense ? That's a lot of sense in a sentence that doesn't make any.
Caffeine does not have the dynamic of a song that touches me. Just when I was getting into the feel of a certain melody, it changes tact and segues into a different beat. The song feels a bit rushed, if it was a half beat slower or even a full beat slower, I would have had it on repeat.
But it is a good first try though from a sustainable Beast, with hopefully many more to come. Jun Hyung needs to hone his skillz more and produce more songs (hopefully for other Beast members) Maybe a Dong Woon solo perhaps ? A fabulous debut ? With ruffles and leopard and girls ? Dong Woon can rock that fo' sho'.
The MV suits well with the song. What with the theme being depressed as a rock and being a bitter psychopath, it suits every piece of the song. I like Yo Seob's bejeweled suit when he was at the arches. The whole part where Yo Seob danced on the table tops was cool, as well as the gravity-defying dance moves. It'll be interesting how he'll translate it on stage.
All in all, it's just a 6 out of 10 stars for me. It's an okay song, not my cup of tea though. Or in this case, not my cup of caffeine.
