HyunA's MELTING shows a vast improvement

No, you did not read the date wrong. It is October 21st and due to unforeseen circumstances Cube Entertainment decided to release HyunA's 2nd mini album 'Melting' a day earlier than scheduled. Trust me it has kept reporters, writers, bloggers, fans busy all day. I'm personally impressed with most of the tracks in her album. It's refreshing to see a much improved side of HyunA. She has definitely grown over the year and I think it's now appropriate for us to take her seriously. The perk about the songs being leaked ahead of the scheduled release is we're not slightly distracted by the music video. As for the MV, we're not expecting nothing less from HyunA because rumours have it that it will be dubbed with 19+ rating sooner or later.

But I'm curious on how she sounds so different on some of the track. I've listened to HyunA's voice since her 'Change' days and I'm 99.99% sure that her voice doesn't sound like some of the parts they have on. Auto-tunes much? Sure why not if it does make the track all the better but too much auto-tuning might just bring Hyuna to a steep downfall as she performs live later on. Everyone can sing but not everyone can sing equally well live. She did great performing 'Change' a few years back and I see no reason why Cube Entertainment shouldn't plan to bring something like that again. For the time being, I am enjoying Melting greatly eventhough the title track sounds a little too typical. Unripe Apple (Oh my god, what were they thinking?? The title itself sounds provocative) and Very Hot however, are love. Love comes in a lot of form and I think my heart just melted listening to HyunA's improved vocals in Unripe Apple. Save the date for HyunA in motion but for now listen to this sweet tunes!

1. Don't Fall Apart

UPDATE - Hyuna's 'Ice Cream' MV is out

So the MV starts out with PSY (!!!!!) making a cameo appearance by stumbling on a funky ice cream truck, complete with leopard print seats and having magical powers. And by magical powers, I mean the inside of the truck looks bigger than it seems. Hyuna comes in and berates PSY for stealing her ice cream. Then, cuteness ensues !

I have to be honest here and say that I actually was expecting a more provocative music video. With all the hype and the description of the song given, I would expect it to just scream SEX but, alas that is not the case.  It does have some instances where one might look away I.E The bubbly bath scene & the Hyuna-molesting-a-guy's-back scene, but all in all I think it's more to the cutesy side than the sexy side. And that's not a bad thing at all.

The feel of the song as well as the addictive beat conjures up the more cute Hyuna than the sexy siren Hyuna. Eventhough the MV is riddle with hints of sexy like studded bras and a lot of exposed skin , it's just that; hints. In my opinion, 'Bubble Pop' and 'Change' was way more provocative than 'Ice Cream' music video wise.

The dance for 'Ice Cream' is also geared towards the hip-hop style which I am all up for but in no means sexy. We get to see Hyuna semi-crunk as well as doing the popular wheelchair move at the same time putting a Hyuna-like twist to it all. Unless she's keeping away the hidden card just for the performance, unleashing inappropriate dance moves left and right on stage. I AM EXCITED.

There are people who have been saying that Hyuna is trying to get more buzz by doing a sexy concept, but I applaud her for doing this in a (somewhat) classy way.  It has been her solo concept for many years now and she's been sticking to it. She might show a different image later on but for now, let's enjoy Hyuna in all her sexy (cute) glory.

If you're not a fan of her now, trust me, you will later. At some point in your life you will come to terms that Hyuna is a force to be reckon with and is getting better with each solo album she puts out there. HYUNA HWAITING.
